The full description
Handheld glassing finds the animals that are moving. Tripod glassing finds the ones that are bedded, which on most western hunts is nearly all of them. The difference is not the binocular, it is whether it is holding still.
This kit is the whole system: the 10×42, a carbon tripod that folds into a pack, a machined head that pans smoothly in the cold, and the harness that carries the glass on your chest instead of around your neck.
The tripod adapter for the binocular is already in the 10×42's box, so nothing else is needed to put this together.
Bought for
Western hunters, and anyone who has been walking past animals for years.
Not for
Timber hunting inside 100 yards, where a tripod is weight you carry and never set up.
Field notes
- 01Glass in a grid off the tripod. Pick a line, work it, drop, repeat. Do not pan.
- 02First and last light are worth more than the middle four hours combined.
- 03Sit down to glass. A seated tripod is steadier than a standing one and you will last longer.
In the box
- All four pieces
- One Field Card per piece
- Kit card
