Boot Dryer, 12V

Two-boot forced-air dryer that runs off a truck

4.4 / 5174 reviews

Forced air at 34°C, not heat. Runs off a 12V socket, dries a soaked leather boot in about three hours, and will not cook the adhesive out of it.

The full description

Most boot dryers are a heater. Heat above about 40°C is what breaks down the adhesives holding a boot together, which is why boots that live on a hot dryer delaminate a season early. This one moves a lot of air at 34°C instead.

It runs off a 12V socket, so it works in a truck between sits — the case where a dryer is actually worth carrying. Both tubes reach the toe box, which is the part that stays wet.

Bought for

Multi-day hunts out of a truck or a camper, and wet-country waterfowl.

Not for

Overnight use in a tent off a small power bank — 22 W will empty a 20,000 mAh bank in about four hours.

Field notes

  1. 01Pull the insoles and open the boot fully before you start. A closed boot dries in twice the time.
  2. 02Three hours in a cab between an evening and a morning sit is enough for a soaked boot.
  3. 03It works on gloves too — the tubes fit a gauntlet cuff.

In the box

  • Dryer unit
  • Flexible tubes, 2
  • 12V lead, 2.4 m
  • Field Card
