What it is made of
Moulded EVA baseDual density
Firm through the arch, softer at the heel strike.
Nylon stiffener
Under the arch only. A full-length stiffener fights a boot's own flex.
Merino-blend top sheet
Wool face, so a sweaty boot smells like a boot and not a chemistry set.
The full description
Every boot ships with a flat die-cut foam insole that costs the maker about a dollar. Replacing it is the highest-return change you can make to a boot you already like, and it costs less than a sock drawer.
Dual-density EVA, firm through the arch and softer at the heel strike, with a nylon stiffener under the arch only. The compression figure is the one that matters — an insole that packs out in a month is worse than the one you took out.
Bought for
Any boot carrying a pack. Especially a boot that already fits.
Not for
Fixing a boot that does not fit. An insole cannot make a boot the wrong shape into the right one.
Field notes
- 01Pull your boot's original insole, lay it on top, trim to the marked line. Trim small; you cannot add it back.
- 02Give them two or three walks before a hunt. A new footbed changes where a boot touches your foot.
- 03If the arch is uncomfortable after a week rather than after a day, the size is wrong, not the arch.
