The full description

Twenty thousand millimetres of hydrostatic head is a real number from a real standard — ISO 811 — and it is re-tested per production lot rather than certified once. Twenty thousand grams of breathability is the other half; a waterproof jacket that does not breathe just moves the water to the inside.

Fully taped, including the pocket bags, which is where most shells at this price quietly stop taping. The hood is helmet-free but takes a brimmed cap, with a single rear adjuster you can reach with a glove.

We publish the noise reading because it is the honest weakness of the category. At 44 dB this is quieter than most hard shells and louder than everything else in this catalog. If you are sitting for whitetail at fifteen yards, put a fleece over it or accept the trade.

Bought for

Sustained rain, marsh hunts and anywhere a wetted-out layer ends the day.

Not for

Close-quarters whitetail sits where 44 dB is too much. Layer the Wind Shirt 42 over it, or take the trade knowingly.

Construction: 3-layer laminate: brushed 40D polyester face, PU membrane, tricot backer; 100% seam taped at 13 mm; AquaGuard coated centre-front and pocket zips; two pit zips; adjustable hood with a single rear pull; hem drawcord; elastic-bound cuffs with a hook-and-loop tab.
Care: Machine wash warm with a technical wash — not detergent — and tumble low to reactivate the finish. Re-proof with a wash-in DWR when beading stops.
Warranty: Three years against delamination, seam-tape failure or zip failure.
